Overview

TB-500 is a synthetic version of a region of Thymosin Beta-4 (TB4), a 43-amino acid naturally occurring peptide present in virtually all human tissues. Thymosin Beta-4 was first identified in the thymus gland and is one of the most abundant intracellular peptides in the body, playing essential roles in cell migration, wound healing, and tissue repair.

Mechanism of Action

TB-500 promotes cellular migration by sequestering G-actin (monomeric actin) and preventing its polymerization into F-actin filaments at unwanted locations, while facilitating actin reorganization at sites where cell movement is needed. This enables cells to migrate to injury sites for repair. Additionally, TB-500 downregulates inflammatory cytokines, promotes angiogenesis, and supports hair follicle stem cell migration.

Research Context

Research has demonstrated TB-500's healing effects on cardiac tissue following infarction, dermal wounds, corneal injuries, and musculoskeletal injuries. Its ability to promote cell migration makes it particularly relevant for injuries where tissue needs to be repopulated with healthy cells.

Key Research Areas

Actin sequestration and cell migration mechanics
Cardiac repair following ischemic injury
Dermal wound healing and re-epithelialization
Musculoskeletal injury recovery (tendon, muscle, ligament)
Hair follicle stem cell mobilization
Synergistic effects with BPC-157

Considerations for Researchers

TB-500 is often confused with full-length Thymosin Beta-4. Verify which product you are purchasing. The synthetic fragment (TB-500) is more common in vendor catalogs. Store lyophilized at -20C. Reconstitute with BAC water.
