Overview
Hexarelin is a synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue with the strongest GH-releasing potency of all GHRPs. It activates the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) and also demonstrates cardioprotective properties independent of GH release, mediated through CD36 scavenger receptor binding.
Mechanism of Action
Hexarelin activates GHS-R1a for potent GH release. Additionally, it binds to CD36 receptors on cardiac cells, providing direct cardioprotective effects including reduction of cardiac fibrosis, promotion of coronary vasodilation, and protection against ischemia-reperfusion injury. This dual mechanism (GH release + cardiac protection) is unique among GHRPs.
Key Research Areas
Considerations for Researchers
Most potent GHRP but susceptible to desensitization with repeated use. Also elevates cortisol and prolactin. The unique cardiac effects via CD36 are of particular research interest. Store at -20C.
