Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide growth hormone secretagogue that selectively activates the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) on pituitary somatotrophs. It is widely regarded as the most selective GHRP (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide) available, producing robust GH release without significant effects on cortisol, prolactin, or appetite.
Mechanism of Action
Ipamorelin binds to GHS-R1a receptors on the anterior pituitary, triggering calcium influx and subsequent GH exocytosis. Its selectivity is remarkable: unlike GHRP-6 and GHRP-2, it does not significantly stimulate ACTH/cortisol release or prolactin secretion. It also does not produce the intense hunger response associated with ghrelin and GHRP-6. The result is a "clean" GH pulse.
